Volunteers Needed!

We are completely run by volunteers - sometimes we pinch ourselves that we get everything done on the generosity of volunteers. This does mean all the money raised can go straight back to helping animals and their humans (yes animals as we sometimes help more than only dogs!)

We are currently needing people to help in the following areas. If any of them might be of interest to you, please send us a pm to chat further.

Opening the shop

Adhoc or weekly options available - you pick your hours! Children and dogs welcome under supervision.

-Sorting donations / organising the shop

Can be done in or out of shop opening hours at your convenience.

Facebook / Photos & Videos

Posting items in the shop on our Facebook pages; making videos; answering messages

Delivery / collections for us & Jersey Paws

Could you collect or drop off items to those who can't drop to our shop / drop off locations?

Drop off locations

Could you offer a drop off location to others and then take the items to the shop or Jersey Paws? This seems to work best if you have a space where people can drop at any time such as out building or shed.

Fostering

Fostering our dogs - we currently have 2 dogs in kennels as simply don't have the foster homes available. More foster homes, means more dogs (and animals) we can help!

IT Support

Keeping our tech running smoothly! Ensuring phones and tablets are updated; updating passwords; making sure we have data (and speaking with the providers to get the best set up)

And the big one....

General running of the charity. This one is not for the faint hearted! JRD pride ourselves on aiming to do right by every animal we take on. It's a you name it, it gets done type of thing... and a drop (almost) everything kind of role - there's 2 of us who do this currently and examples are that we've coordinated things on Christmas Day; sorted emergency fostering at 11.45pm NYE and been up at all hours. It's in equal measures the worst and best feelings - we won't lie there is likely to be both happy and sad tears. It can mean swallowing your pride for the bigger picture. It's working out what we can and can't do; making (difficult) decisions; considering risk; ensuring compliance with the charity law and following our constitution while keeping our animals at the very centre of any decision made.
