Oakley is a 3 year old Red Fox Labrador cross working cocker spaniel who has lived in Jersey since he was a pup and looking for an experienced forever home or one with lots of time to give to him. He is about the size of a springer spaniel.
He is a friendly chap who loves to go for walks and training before settling down on the sofa or floor for lots of attention.
He is a busy boy with his working breeds and will need a home who has the time and commitment to him to keep his brain exercised
He currently goes to doggy day care and
training. He mixes well with other dogs but does prefer his humans. He could live with other dog(s) but not cats. He also very much enjoys sniffing out rats so no small furries in the home which he could gain access to.
Although the photos show Oakley off lead his recall does need some further work to be fully reliable.
He is crate trained when left and also travels well in the car.
He has been neutered a couple of months back. He is strong on the lead so will need owners who can manage this for now and work to reduce his pulling.
He will need a home with access to a secure / semi-secure outside space - this could look like a garden, access to a field or a beach with limited exits.
A new home will need to be about most of the time or able to afford to cover day care for some of the week. He would not suit a home where he is left home alone most days. He could suit a person who can take him to work in their vehicle or an office where he has opportunity to burn off energy before work and during the day.
He has been living with a toddler but older children would be probably more suitable who are able to get involved in his training - we are happy to discuss this depending on the individual set up and experience.
